Master Yeoh, chief instructor Derek O'Connell, assistant instructor Chris Pollach and one of the higher belt students that also assistMaster Yeoh was the driving force behind the creation of the Goulbourn Middle School - Tae Kwon Do club. The club has been in operation for over 30 years, and our goal has always been to provide students with the best instruction at an affordable price. This is an excellent program for parents to train with their children in the same class. Master Yeoh and his team of excellent instructors constantly strive to provide the best quality program. Students from the City of Ottawa's Goulbourn program practicing under Master Yeoh's supervisionPart of the City of Ottawa's Recreation Program, the Goulbourn program runs two sessions each year with a Fall/Winter and Winter/Spring time table. This program hosts youth, teen and adult levels and emphasizes full family participation. Associate Master Instructors add unique experiences to Master Yeoh's programs. Looking across the gym towards the entrance shows off the Looking towards the facility from the East, the brand new gymnasium with its floor to celing windows is pictured on the left hand side. This new facility is located at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex center and includes a gym for TaeKwonDo classes that is exceptionally lit with high ceilings. This gives the student a very safe and comfortable environment to practice their martial arts. Image: Looking towards the facility from the East, the brand new gymnasium with its floor to ceiling windows is located directly behind the swimming pool. Enter at the main entrance and proceed directly past the main office.

The Goulbourn Recreation Complex is conveniently located in theat 1500 Shea Road, Stittsville, at the intersection of Shea Road and Abbott Street., just a short drive from the rest of Richmond, Munster, Kanata, Nepean, Stittsville, and Carp. From Highway 417 (the Queensway), take the Carp Road exit. Go south on Carp road an take the 3rd right onto Stittsville Main St. Turn left at Abbott St E and head northwest on Shea Rd toward Abbott St E. Once in the building head directly towards the rear past the office and look for the frist gymnasium on your right. The gym is exceptionally bright and also offers natural light. The facility is equipped with safe flooring and lots of room to accomodate both students and a wide range of movement. One on one training with a 1st degree black belt! Master Yeoh and his instructors pride themselves on being able to keep their class sizes small, thus allowing a much more personalized experience for the TaeKwonDo student. Training in any discipline is a PROCESS not a DESTINATION. Image: One on one training with a 1st degree black belt!

Full combat sparring is taught at this location. Master Yeoh reserves this for higher belt levels and requires that the students purchase the proper protective gear. Master Rick Goodman 1st Dan (left) and Master Stephen Yeoh (right) 6th Dan. Master Yeoh is famous for his weaponry expertise and training. At the Stittsville centre he specializes in the “short sticks” that help the student to focus on hand and eye co-ordination. This also prepares the student to master other weapons like the sword and dagger. Master Yeoh teaches TaeKwonDo students the various Poomsae (patterns) of this Martial Art form. Patterns are a choreographed set movements composed of various attack and defensive strategies.
